Sodali & Co. Lands Joele Frank MD Tim Ragones
Sodali & Co. hires Joele Frank MD Tim Ragones after 10 years at the activism-defense giant, plus Jasper Street's Peter da Silva Vint, in a senior double play.
Action points
- Tim Ragones joins Sodali & Co. as MD in strategic communications after 10 years at Joele Frank
- Peter da Silva Vint, ex-Jasper Street Partners, joins as MD in shareholder advisory
- Da Silva Vint previously held director roles at Barclays and Moelis and served on BlackRock's investment stewardship team
- Ragones' prior roles: associate VP at Prosek Partners; career began in broadcast journalism
- Sodali announced both hires this week; no start date disclosed

Brief
Sodali & Co. has hired Tim Ragones, a managing director who spent 10 years at Joele Frank, as managing director in its strategic communications practice — one of two senior activist-side hires the stakeholder intelligence advisory firm announced this week.
The firm also brought on Peter da Silva Vint, who most recently led the shareholder and activism advisory practice at Jasper Street Partners, as managing director in its shareholder advisory practice.
Who is Tim Ragones?
Ragones arrives with a decade at Joele Frank, the Wall Street firm that has long been the first call for boards staring down an activist campaign or a contested deal. There, he advised boards and senior management teams across the situations that keep IR and comms leads up at night:
- M&A and contested transactions
- Shareholder activism defense
- Cyber incidents
- Governance matters
- Regulatory issues
- Earnings communications
- Executive transitions
- Complex litigation
Before Joele Frank, Ragones was an associate VP at Prosek Partners. He started his career as a broadcast journalist — a background Sodali is clearly selling to clients.
"His ability to understand the nuances of an issue from multiple perspectives, informed by his background in both journalism and strategic communications, will be an invaluable resource for our clients," said Liz Micci, Sodali & Co.'s chief client officer and global head of strategic communications.
What does da Silva Vint bring?
The second hire adds a buy-side lens. Before Jasper Street Partners, da Silva Vint served as a director at Barclays and Moelis & Company and as a member of BlackRock's investment stewardship team — meaning he has sat on the same side of the table as the investors who increasingly drive contested votes.
"He is a sophisticated advisor with the perspective to view scenarios through the eyes of the client, the analyst, and the investor," said Aneliya Crawford, Sodali & Co.'s chief partnerships officer and global head of shareholder advisory.
Why does the double hire matter for practitioners?
For comms and IR teams, the moves signal where Sodali sees demand. The firm is pairing a sell-side comms veteran in Ragones with a hire in da Silva Vint whose resume spans investment banking and the world's largest asset manager's stewardship operation. That combination — message craft plus investor perspective — is exactly the toolkit clients want when a proxy fight breaks out or a deal draws an interloper.
The poach from Joele Frank also matters for competitive reasons. Joele Frank has been the dominant name in activism defense for years, and any firm building out a serious contested-situations practice will try to hire from it. Sodali now has a 10-year veteran of that shop inside its strategic communications practice.
Expect both hires to work adjacent mandates: Ragones on the communications and positioning side of business-critical situations, da Silva Vint on shareholder advisory, where understanding how BlackRock's stewardship team evaluates a dispute is a genuine edge.
Neither Sodali nor the two hires commented beyond the announcement. No start date or client roster changes were disclosed.
For in-house practitioners, the practical takeaway is simple: the bench at Sodali & Co. just got deeper in exactly the areas — activism, M&A communications, and investor-side advisory — where experienced senior counsel is scarce and a proxy contest can materialize in a matter of weeks.
