Nancy Hall Takes U.S. CEO Seat At WPP Media

WPP Media promoted Mindshare North America CEO Nancy Hall to U.S. chief on March 10, 2026, filling the vacancy left by Sharb Farjami's October 2025 exit and signaling a programmatic-first push.

Action points

  1. Nancy Hall appointed WPP Media U.S. CEO on March 10, 2026
  2. She succeeds Sharb Farjami, who exited the role in October 2025
  3. Hall joined WPP Media in 2023 as CEO of Mindshare North America
  4. WPP Media was previously known as GroupM before its late 2024 rebrand
  5. The U.S. business oversees Mindshare, Wavemaker, EssenceMediacom and GroupNexus

WPP Media named Mindshare North America chief Nancy Hall its U.S. CEO on March 10, filling a five-month vacancy left by Sharb Farjami's October 2025 exit and placing a data-and-programmatic veteran atop a network that steers billions in agency spend across television, radio, digital and streaming.

Hall joined WPP Media in 2023 as CEO of Mindshare North America, one of the network's flagship media shops. The promotion lands as WPP — the London-based ad holding company — pushes deeper into AI-driven buying and audience-measurement tooling that, until recently, agencies talked about as futurism and now have to actually ship.

What does the appointment change?

Practically, Hall inherits the top U.S. seat at the network formerly known as GroupM. WPP rebranded the unit in late 2024 to position itself as a "media, intelligence and technology" operation. The U.S. business oversees buying and planning across Mindshare, Wavemaker, EssenceMediacom and GroupNexus — the four networks sitting under the WPP Media umbrella.

Hall's résumé fits the brief:

  • CEO, Mindshare North America (2023-present)
  • Senior roles at Epsilon's Conversant division
  • Senior roles at Interpublic Group's Matterkind

Her career arc tracks the consolidation movement that pushed ad-tech and data skills into the traditional agency C-suite over the past decade.

Who says what

Global CEO Brian Lesser framed the hire as a strategic statement, not a routine promotion.

"Nancy's unparalleled background and visionary leadership make her the definitive choice to lead WPP Media U.S.," Lesser said in a statement. "Her exceptional track record as a transformative leader in data, technology, programmatic and analytics has consistently delivered impactful client results, aligning perfectly with our strategic priorities across WPP."

Hall kept her messaging broad and forward-looking. "Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of working with some of the strongest teams and brands in our industry — a group that is creative, dedicated and always future-forward in their thinking," Hall said. "I am thrilled to take on the role of U.S. CEO and expand that work across the organization."

Read those quotes with the usual agency-hire skepticism. Clients who measure outcomes by the dollar rarely see the "new standard" arrive on schedule, and the word "transformative" has lost most of its meaning after a decade of overuse in holding-company pressers.

What practitioners should watch

Three pressure points will determine whether the title translates to client impact:

  • Roster continuity. Farjami's October exit came without a clean handoff window. Rival agency chiefs will likely test Hall's network relationships across the next two or three competitive reviews.
  • Programmatic scale. Hall's Conversant and Matterkind background signals that WPP Media intends to push more client dollars into biddable inventory rather than legacy upfront commitments — a margin question holding companies have wrestled with for years.
  • AI productization. WPP has been one of the louder holding companies claiming AI fluency. Hall will need to convert keynote language into shipped workflow that planners and buyers actually use on a Tuesday morning.

Hall did not respond to follow-up questions about leadership-team changes or direct reports by press time.
